Pressure Ulcer Prevention
Morton Hospital’s healthcare team is dedicated to providing high quality care based on the latest evidence-based guidelines for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. Risk assessments that focus on pressure ulcer prevention protocols are completed by nursing upon admission and every shift. Our skin team is represented by a nurse certified in both wound care (CFCN) and Ostomy Care (CWON), as well as select skin champions from the nursing units. Pressure Ulcer prevalence rounds are completed at least three times a year.

Fall Prevention
Morton Hospital has a dedicated Fall Prevention Committee and Administration that has made fall prevention and safe handling of patients to prevent injury a top priority. The hospital has implemented a tiered Fall Prevention Protocol and utilize fall prevention tools on every unit. Each patient is reevaluated every shift for any potential fall risk. The hospital staff is focused at change of shift safety huddles and post falls to provide the safest care for our patients. Morton Hospital has a multidisciplinary team consisting of hospital leadership, frontline staff, pharmacy, quality, and rehab services. The team meets monthly to analyze each fall, look for trends and develop education and action plans to ensure their patients are safe from injury. This data is then presented to the Quality Council on a scheduled basis.
